Between 1996 and 2003, Christian Cullen made Super Rugby worth watching. The Hurricanes fullback knew no bounds.

His talent was frightening. He could glide and swerve at the same time and defences couldn’t work out how to stop someone who didn’t need to slow down to change direction.

His try against the Waratahs in 1996 was maybe one of the best ever scored, but it was by no means the only time that he started and finished something from his own line.

Cullen’s ability to beat defenders was legendary and Hurricanes fans lost count of the number of times he’d spark something from deep inside his own territory with a step and a jink and then suddenly be cruising into space.
