SIMON HICKEY [HURRICANES]

Strengths: Has tremendous experience having played for the Blues and then in France and most recently with Edinburgh.

Always had the temperament for the big occasion and plays his best rugby in the biggest games. He’s tidy and confident – comfortable certainly bossing those around him as the position requires.

Weaknesses: Has been around a long time and has never been able to convince he’s ready for the next level. Hickey is a great club man – the sort of player coaches want around as he has a good attitude, experience and a desire to work hard. But ultimately his skill-set is short of where it needs to be.

Goal Kicking: Excellent.

Is he a future All Black? No.
