Strengths: He’s confident and bold. He’s got a good running game and a much improved kicking game and a cool head under pressure.

Knows how to put together a performanc­e and then back it up the next week. Played exceptiona­lly well in 2019 and was showing good form in the latter half of 2020 when he returned from injury.

Weaknesses: Doesn’t seem to be sure yet whether he’s a No 10 or No 12. Needs to commit to one and hopefully new coach Tony Brown will allow that to happen and use Ioane in one role all campaign.

Goal Kicking: Excellent.

Is he a future All Black? He’s won a cap and could win more this year if he is installed at No 10 by the Highlander­s and given a full campaign there.
