The big game of the first round 10 years ago was at Eden Park where the Blues played the Crusaders on February 19. Other than Richie McCaw, who was recovering from surgery on his foot, all the big names in both teams were present and an epic ensued.

The Blues sneaked home 24-22 and the winning try was scored by Blues prop Tony Woodcock which was a portent of things to come as eight months later on October 23, on the same ground, in almost the same place, he would score the All Blacks only try in the World Cup final.

Three days after the Crusaders got home after this game, Christchurch was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake.
