Cookes’ Snatch Strap story

-

Cookes first introduced their Snatch Master 4WD eighttonne Recovery Strap to New Zealand over 25 years ago.

After listening to feedback from 4WD club members, Cookes worked with a New Zealand webbing manufacturer to develop a high quality, high strength Nylon webbing that would offer sufficient elongation to aid recovery of heavily bogged vehicles.

After some months of trialling various threads and undertaking many elongations and breaking load tests on manufactured strap samples, the first prototypes were finally considered ready for field testing.

Snatch Master Recovery Straps were provided to several 4WD recovery event enthusiasts who put them to the ultimate test. The feedback received by Cookes confirmed they had a winner.

With an in-house ISO 9001 accredited manufacturing facility, Cookes Snatch Master 4WD Recovery Straps will long remain the quality standard in this country. Just hose your Snatch Master strap off following use, allow it to dry naturally and a long and productive service life is assured.

Cookes carry standard length Snatch Masters ( six metres and nine metres) at each of their 12 branches across New Zealand, with special lengths able to be manufactured to order in their Auckland factory.

Over the years Cookes has manufactured many Snatch Master 4WD Recovery Strap specials; from straps as short as one metre long to others as long as 75 metres! The product can also be sewn double-ply to provide additional strength. The same experience and high- quality standards that go into the manufacture of their Nylon Heavy Vehicle Recovery Straps can be seen in each and every 4WD Snatch Master recovery strap produced.

In 2013 Cookes decided to complement their in-house manufactured Snatch Master straps with the innovative Black Snake Recovery Strop range manufactured in Australia. Available in strengths of eight tonne and 12 tonne and standard lengths of six and 10 metres, the Black Snake 4WD Recovery Strops offer the user a high elongation nylon inner, protected by a revolutionary vulcanised rubber outer to resist abrasion. With galvanised thimble eyelets to protect the eyes, the Black Snake is easy and safe to use in the toughest conditions.

If you'd like to know where your recovery products are manufactured, look no further than Cookes. Widely regarded in both New Zealand and overseas in terms of high product quality, their 107 years of experience in this country is reflected in each Snatch Master strap and Black Snake strop they supply.
