Ranger pricing confirmed

Out with the old, in with the new

-

Ford New Zealand has confirmed pricing for the expanded range of Rangers it will offer from mid-year. The new 4WDs were shown to the public for the first time at the Hutchwilco Boat Show in Auckland during May.

In most cases, new versions of its most popular Kiwi-market 4WD are barely increased over the models they replace, though the Clean Car tax will affect each to some degree.

Though the range features rear wheel drive models, a single cab bi-turbo 4WD at $55,990 kicks off the model list that is most of interest to NZ4WD readers.

There is a total of 11 4WDs on offer, and the range will be capped by the performance flagship Raptor, priced at $89,990 RRP. The Raptor will feature a petrol engine for the first time, with a 3.0L V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost engine producing 292kW and 583Nm. The Raptor will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2022.

One of the highlights of the 2022 Ranger line-up is the addition of a 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel engine, which produces 184kW of power at 3,250 rpm and 600Nm of torque from 1,750-2,250 rpm.

The proven 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel comes across from the current model with unchanged outputs: 154kW at 3,750 rpm and 500Nm from 1,750-2,000 rpm.

An updated version of Ford’s 10-speed auto transmission goes behind the V6 engines and the 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo.

Ford New Zealand Managing Director, Simon Rutherford, said the 2022 Ranger line-up offers fantastic value for money to customers.

“The Ford Ranger has set the benchmark in this segment for some time, and we expect the next-generation model to raise that mark yet again; beginning with the XL model and going right through to the Raptor.

“This is great news for our customers, as alongside the great steps forward for the vehicle, the pricing of the 2022 line-up ensures that Ranger continues to represent excellent value for money while the more powerful yet cleaner powertrains also take a bit of the sting out of the clean car fees.”
