More power for the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD
The new Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty has arrived down- under with a more powerful V8 engine and a swathe of enhancements with a focus on towing, technology, and comfort.
Powered by a 6.6-litre Duramax turbodiesel V8 engine with 350kW and 1332Nm of torque, the 2500 HD may be the strongest and most capable pick-up available in Australia and New Zealand.
Paired with the powerful, torque-laden engine is a 10-speed automatic transmission. Revised final drive ratios enhance low-end performance by as much as 25 percent.
The transmission optimises grade braking with closer gear ratios, allowing for greater engine braking control. It is also tuned for quicker downshifts to enhance on-demand power, precision, and refinement. A two-speed transfer case means switching from
two-wheel drive to 4WD auto and 4WD-hI can be done on the fly. Changing to 4WD-lo is carried out while the vehicle is stationary.
Approach and departure angles are
28.5 and 23.6 degrees respectively and ground clearance is 251mm.
The truck’s tow rating is a class-leading 4,500kg (braked).
Shawn Norwood, Lead Development Engineer for the Silverado Heavy Duty, says updates to the new MY24 version build upon its established heavy-duty truck versatility.
“These include powertrain upgrades, a commanding new physical presence paired with an overhauled interior, enhancements to its revolutionary trailering technology and infotainment system, plus active safety technology upgrades.”
The new MY24 HD joins other Chevrolet Silverado models available at GMSV Dealers, including the Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium and Silverado 1500 ZR2.
“The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models can more than hold their own when it comes to touring and towing, but the 2500 HD is the truck you need when you want to get a big job done – it amplifies power, performance, and functionality,” said Jess Bala, Managing Director, GM Australia & New Zealand.
“The new Silverado HD is an even more attractive proposition for people who need the capability and functionality that drives them from the weekly worksite right through to their big weekend activities.”
The recommended retail price for the MY24 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD in New Zealand is $175,000.
