PlaceMakers Dunedin and Mosgiel
‘‘NUMBER one store for trade and serious DIY in the wider Dunedin and Taieri areas.’’
With history in the building industry in the wider Dunedin area dating back to 1909, PlaceMakers Dunedin and Mosgiel has a proud and successful trackrecord in the building, renovation and construction industry. ‘‘We are the biggest trade supplier in our region bar none,’’ says owner/ operator Justin Macready. ‘‘This is no mean feat and keeps us on our toes every day in what is a very dynamic industry.’’
With a lot of competition in the market, PlaceMakers Dunedin and Mosgiel keeps ahead of the game by constantly looking at new and better ways to serve its customers.
‘‘We have a clear focus on what we call the ‘4 Rs’, which is ensuring our customers get the Right product at the Right price at the Right time with the Right advice. Often the cheapest product isn’t actually the right product, which is what many of our competitors are focused on,’’ Macready said. ‘‘Our average customer is a tradesperson who needs to give a trade warranty on their work, so our focus is to ensure we are always supplying trade-quality products which will stand the test of time.’’ On top of this, PlaceMakers Dunedin and Mosgiel has a great team, with experts in all areas of the business, such as inhouse estimators and prefabricated frame and truss designers, who provide a crucial service to PlaceMakers’ customers. They can offer a total solution to a customer house build or a renovation. ‘‘We provide everything from the foundation to the roof and everything in between, and as a team we are very proud of our people and have a real point of difference in this regard. This was evident when we won Retailer of the Year at the National Hardware Awards late last year,’’ Macready says. ‘‘We were up against several other hardware merchants, including another one in Dunedin, but the independent judges saw fit to award this to us. This really shows that we have an amazing team.’’ Not one for complacency, Macready will be using his prize of an overseas trip on a study tour to Ecobuild in London, followed by several visits to trade merchants in the UK. ‘‘You have to keep ahead of the game to be number one, and looking at the latest trends in other countries will help us stay there,’’ he added.
