Bomb shuts down meeting

Whakatane: A leaking mortar bomb has caused a Whakatane gathering of war memorabilia owners to be shut down.

The New Zealand Defence Force bomb squad was called to the club earlier this week following reports about the mortar leaking.

They found the mortar to be highly explosive.

Some other items on display were also deemed to be unsafe. — NZN
