Library interest to be sought
THE Queenstown Lakes District Council will soon ask for expressions of interest for establishing a library at Frankton.
Thecouncil voted yesterday at a full meeting in Wanaka to direct the chief executive Mike Theelen to seek expressions of interest in a library.
A business case will also be prepared by council staff.
In 2015, the council consulted on the development of library hub in Frankton and included funding of
$5.3 million.
A trial popup library was established at the Queenstown Events Centre (QEC) in August and had already doubled its circulation.
A colocation with the QEC was seen as the most costeffective and convenient solution, as it did not involve a land purchase.
