$33 million home — have I got a deal for you?

-

THE old saying is very true: ‘‘The early bird catches the first worm.’’ For it’s not every day one sees a tremendous bargain when one reads the front page of the ODT (9.11.17) and reads of a lodge and property for sale at a humble price of only $33 million.

Thoughts rushed through my mind to call Mr Philip Chandler who photographed and wrote the report of the luxury lodgestyle holiday home and property at Glenorchy if he would be so kind as to negotiate for me.

My bargaining power would have been a deposit of a Lotto ticket purchased this weekend (11.11.17) worth $30 million and final payments for same by way of fortnightly instalments from my pension via the Labour, NZ First and Greens. They negotiated a deal to get into power and I may have been able to do the same and gain ownership of that opulent estate.

However, it’s only a pipe dream now as I was informed it has been sold. Next time, when a huge bargain like this comes forth, I shall leave my breakfast cereal as is and make the necessary inquiries immediately.

But, in the words of Jock Kornfield, ‘‘In the end, just three things matter.’’ How well we have lived. How well we have loved and how well we have learned to let go.

Bill English justified

I WAS incensed to read the delusional dribble from your correspondent Colin Perriman (ODT, 13.11.17).

Mr Perriman suggests that Bill English is arrogant for not standing down after leading his party to be, by far, the largest party in Parliament. Your correspondent has conveniently forgotten that 65% of voters voted against Labour and 93% of voters voted against NZ First.

We now have a fraudulent government made up by a coalition of underperformers on election day, and Mr Perriman has the audacity to call Mr English arrogant.

More voters preferred Mr English to run the country than Labour and NZ First combined, and is therefore well justified to remain in Parliament as leader of the largest party.
