Daytime watering ban on way
WARMER weather conditions and recent winds have prompted the Clutha District Council to impose summer water restrictions from next Friday, December 1.
From that date, gardens in the Clutha district can only be watered between 8pm and 8am.
Watering systems and sprinklers can be used between those times each day but should not be left unattended.
Residents were also urged to ensure water is not wasted.
Service delivery group manager Jules Witt said the restrictions were designed to get people into the habit of conserving water in the hope the council will not have to impose more severe restrictions later if dry conditions continue throughout the summer.
Exemptions might be granted by the council to commercial properties on a casebycase basis.
