Day makes move

Golf: Australian Jason Day emerged yesterday as the hot Australian Open favourite.

Day is breathing down the neck of halfway leader Lucas Herbert after fourstraight backnine birdies en route to a secondround threeunderpar 68.

The former world No 1 climbed to eight under for the championship, just one behind Herbert, who shot 66.

Firstround leader Cameron Davis (72) is third at seven under. — NZN
