Waiareka stock sale

- SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

STOCK of all classes poured into the Waiareka saleyards this week for what turned into one of the largest yardings for some time.

Unfortunately prices could not keep up and there were large drops in value across the board, particularly in the mutton market, as schedules continued to fall and processing space was very limited.

Another good yarding of cattle met limited demand, mainly because of dry conditions, which saw prices ease again.

Top prime spring lambs: $127$145; medium, $105$124; lighter, $85$101; top hoggets, $105$126; medium, $83$101; heavy ewes, $106$122; medium, $80$105; lighter, $55$75; store lambs, $65$70; ewes with lambs at foot, $60$80 all counted; rams, $50$70.
