What’s in a name when it’s family support?

-

I ENJOYED reading the views of Cromwell’s Dr White, who has put into words how many of us are feeling and thinking about the resistance being shown to the possibility of establishing Ronald McDonald House at Dunedin Hospital.

Sick and suffering children and their families when in need of comfort, food and a friendly face, care little about who has funded it, only that it is there for them. The few articles about families who have been involved with RMH show they have nothing but praise for all concerned.

McDonald’s is just a name and

RMH, if established, will not be offering greasy chips or burgers to patients and families, only a roof over their heads, a comfortable bed, good food and friendly, caring staff.

Clarity on visitors

SO there is concern among the hospitality and horticultural sectors due to the new Government’s immigration policies (ODT, 21.11.17).

It appears the biggest percentages of workers in these industries are mainly visitors on temporary work permits. That is, many youngsters on their OE.

There are also worker gangs from Vanuatu on seasonal orchard/ viticulture harvests.

Would the authorities or politicians please define the difference between immigrants, temporary migrants, students on education and work visas, and refugees.

It might solve the problem of which grouping the Government will be cutting down on and restrict the numbers piling into Auckland, causing most of the problems.

Which is right?
