Welcome planned for England, Black Caps
DUNEDIN is putting out the welcome mat for the New Zealand and England cricket teams ahead of their match next Wednesday.
The Dunedin City Council is encouraging residents to welcome the two teams as they arrive at Dunedin Airport tomorrow and to get into the spirit of the match by decorating their letterboxes.
England will arrive at 2.40pm and New Zealand at 5.30pm.
A kapa haka group from King’s and Queen’s High Schools will welcome the teams before the City of Dunedin Pipe Band pipes the players through the terminal.
The winner of the ‘‘dress up your letterbox’’ competition will receive a family pass to the game.
People can pick up a decoration starter box from the council’s customer service centre in the Civic Centre and email a photo of their letterbox to the council.
Entries close at noon on Monday.
The winner will be announced on Tuesday.
