Andrew Deoul (51), driving while driver licence suspended, State Highway 1, just north of Waihola, about 10.20pm, September 29, 150 hours’ community work and, in lieu of disqualification, a further 150 hours (making total term 300 hours).

Zontae Wilson (32), of Dunedin, Crimes Act male assaults female offence, September 21, three months’ community detention (curfewed 8pm5am daily), 150 hours’ community work, nine months’ supervision; Summary Offences Act assault on same woman, Berwick, July 30, 60 hours’ community work (concurrent), possessing class A controlled drug methamphetamine (0.1g), nine months’ supervision (concurrent). Counsel Anne Stevens said Wilson had eight weeks in custody; the offending seemed isolated to a brief relationship; Wilson attending Community Alcohol and Drug Service because he recognised drug use a factor in the offending. Judge noted assault victim had been a temporary associate of Wilson; Wilson now back with his longterm partner ‘‘a positive anchor’’.
