Disability advocate dies
Invercargill: Southland politician and disability advocate J B Munro died yesterday. He was 82.
John Baldwin Munro — known as ‘‘JB’’ — was a oneterm Labour MP for Invercargill, from 197275.
However, it was for his work with disability organisations that Mr Munro was best known.
Appointed national secretary of IHC in 1977, he retired from the organisation in 1998 as chief executive officer. He was eventually made a life member.
Mr Munro, a former Mosgiel resident, moved to Christchurch, where his funeral will be held on Friday.
