Jahtisha Ihaia (21), of Dunedin, drinkdrivi­ng, 600mcg (drove wrong way in oneway street; said didn’t know the road as she was from Auckland), Kerikeri, about 1am, August 26, 50 hours’ community work, disqualifi­ed six months.

Cody Mosen (20), of Dunedin, disqualifi­ed driving, John Wilson Ocean Drive, August 2, 40 hours’ community work (cumulative on current term), disqualifi­ed six months (from May 9 next year when current ban ends).

Tane Ruben Duncan (23), employed, of Dunedin, driving while driver licence suspended (speed 83kmh in 50kmh area), Kaikorai Valley Rd, about 6.45pm, July 24, fined $400, court costs $130, disqualifi­ed six months.

AAriana Tutaki (18), student and parttime worker, of Dunedin, two charges careless driving causing injury (Tutaki driving north on State Highway 1 near East Taieri, approached Braeside intersecti­on, turned right into Braeside in front of victims’ vehicle which was heading south on State Highway 1; resulting crash extensivel­y damaged both vehicles; victims, a 68yearold man and his 37yearold son, taken to hospital by ambulance; the older victim received medical attention for bruising to his abdomen; his son received serious injury to a disc in his vertebra, in hospital two days, off work two months), about 10.45am, April 2, disqualifi­ed six months (each charge, concurrent), $1500 emotional harm (younger victim). Counsel Jo Turner said Tutaki misjudged situation, apologised at scene and also later.

Andrew William Sims (39), of Dunedin, Crimes Act male assaults female offence against woman known to him (argument over relationsh­ip matters; victim, fearing argument would escalate, went to different room; defendant refused to let argument end; yelled at victim, grabbed her by upper left arm, shoved her out of kitchen doorway causing her to hit the hallway wall and bang her arm on kitchen door; victim fled), about 8pm, November 5, 12 months’ supervisio­n. Counsel Ann Leonard said defendant extremely sorry for what he did, apolo gised to victim immediatel­y, had since ‘‘of own volition’’ attended Stopping Violence.

Paul Simon Semple (35), of Dunedin, intentiona­lly damaging two doors (by kicking when found them locked; said did so to gain access to his room), at hostel in Stafford St, about 10pm, May 24; intentiona­lly damaging door (at boarding house in Graham St, heavily intoxicate­d, had been drinking home brew with other residents, had also consumed cannabis, refused to leave room where socialisin­g, kicked door breaking it off its hinges and damaging the framing, became physical with residents, police called), about 12.45am, August 18, 18 months’ intensive supervisio­n (includes requiremen­t to undergo drug/alcohol counsellin­g/treatment, psychologi­cal assessment and any followup; also judicial monitoring).
