Wellington woes of Dogs, Storm continue

THE Southern Dogs lost their second game in Wellington yesterday at the business end of the National Hockey League.

The side went down 42 to North Harbour after it had scored the first goal.

Dylan Thomas scored a field goal for the Southern side after 13 minutes as the team went on the front foot.

However, North Harbour equalised through Kaylan Jeram with a field goal early in the second quarter.

A quick double blow in the third quarter turned the match for North Harbour as Cory Bennett scored two goals, both from penalty corners.

Bennett, a Black Stick, has now scored seven goals in the league, all from penalty corners.

Another penalty corner goal from North Harbour’s Joseph Batholomew with five minutes to go sealed the win for North Harbour.

Southern’s Lachie Davidson scored a goal from a penalty corner with two minutes left to play. Southern takes on Auckland at 1pm today. The side sits on the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, the Southern Storm lost 31 to Central in

Wellington last night.

It was a tough loss to take as Southern was tied 11 with five minutes left before Capital scored two late goals.

Central had opened the scoring but Southern equalised in the third quarter with a goal by Emily McNaughton.

The Southern Storm has yet to win a game and has the day off today.
