Three deaths on North Is­land roads yes­ter­day morn­ing

WELLLINGTON: Three peo­ple died on the roads in sep­a­rate crashes in the North Is­land yes­ter­day morn­ing.

State High­way 1 north of Auck­land was blocked af­ter a fa­tal crash about 10am in­volv­ing a truck and two other ve­hi­cles. Po­lice said the crash hap­pened near Mahu­rangi West Rd, north of Puhoi.

One per­son died at the scene and three oth­ers were in­jured, two se­ri­ously.

In an­other crash, po­lice were called to Al­bany Ex­press­way at 6.07am to find one per­son had died.

The ex­press­way was closed in both direc­tions be­tween the Tawa Dr­Gre­ville Rd in­ter­change and Mer­cari Way­Bush Rd.

An­other per­son died yes­ter­day af­ter be­ing hit by a car on State High­way 1 on the Kapiti Coast.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to the in­ci­dent, south of Otaki, about 5am. — RNZ
