Award for Kaikoura work
Kaikoura: Work to restore road and rail access after the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake has won an international engineering award.
It was the first time entrants outside the United Kingdom could enter the Institution of Civil Engineers people’s choice award in the organisation’s 200year history.
Eightyfive landslips covered 194km of State Highway 1.
It took two million manhours and 1700 people to move nearly 1 million cubic metres of rock and debris off SH1 and the main trunk railway line.
