Creativity was always a huge part of my childhood, being brought up in an artistic family environment. From an early age I was very particular about fashion and that continued to develop once I finished high school and decided to pursue a degree in fashion.
I started my degree at Ara, in Christchurch, and transferred to Otago Polytech in 2017. I learnt great skills at Ara. However, I chose to move to Otago Polytechnic because of its emphasis on the importance of design values and concepts within my practice.
For me, fashion design is an outlet to express my personality and creativity. I want my designs to empower people of all genders, shapes, sizes and races.
I think that it’s time to focus on a world where freedom, confidence and expression of oneself should be at the core of every motive.
You have just been Phunked! is a highend, commercial fashion collection that reflects the context behind these thoughts and how important it is to express yourself and your personality through happy, free and bold dressing.
The intent behind this collection is to try and inspire others not to think of dressing as an everyday task and rather as a way to creatively articulate who they are without even having to speak.
I also wanted to portray a full sensory experience for the consumer, to excite and interest them in every way possible.
You have just been Phunked! gives the wearer the freedom to ‘‘style with a smile’’.
