Cruise ship vis­i­tors set to add to crush

IT might be a wee bit busy in Dunedin to­day.

Christ­mas shop­pers may re­quire zen­like pa­tience as thou­sands of vis­i­tors are ex­pected to squeeze into the city cen­tre.

As well as the usual Christ­mas shop­ping rush, three cruise ships will dock in Port Chalmers to­day.

First to berth will be Ova­tion of the Seas at 7am, fol­lowed by Golden Princess at 7.30am. Com­bined, they can carry nearly 8000 pas­sen­gers and crew.

The much smaller Cale­do­nian Sky, with ca­pac­ity for just un­der 200, will ar­rive in port at 7.45am.

Join­ing the cruise vis­i­tors will be about 700 Univer­sity of Otago graduands and their fam­i­lies, in town for two grad­u­a­tion cer­e­monies this af­ter­noon.
