Christina Sutherland, (23), student, careless use of a motor vehicle causing injury (Sutherland crashed her car on May 6 while driving on the Fruitlands-Roxburgh Rd; her passenger at the time sustained a broken ankle; Judge Crosbie said the two were still friends and flatmates) fined $500 and disqualifi­ed from driving for six months.

Silapa Halangahu (26), of Mosgiel, driving while licence revoked (Halangahu had his driver licence revoked for medical reasons; defence counsel Steve Turner said he had gone to pick his children up from school; he was going back to the doctor to see if his medical condition was still present) disqualifi­ed from driving for six months.

Carmen Jane MacMillan (45), of Dunedin, breaching a condition of supervisio­n (sentenced to one year supervisio­n on March 9; failed to report to a probation officer without reasonable excuse), suspended sentence of six months.

Hayden Desmond Whitcombe (24), roofer, of Dunedin, excess breathalco­hol, and driving while disqualifi­ed (driving on Brighton Rd in Dunedin about 12.44am on October 13, failed a roadside test; found to have 942mcg of alcohol per litre of breath; Judge Crosbie said it was Whitcombe’s fifth drinkdrivi­ng conviction; he was one of the last cases in an ‘‘extraordin­ary number of drinkdrive­rs’’ appearing before the court yesterday) nine months’ prison, disqualifi­ed from driving for a year, with alcohol interlock provisions to follow.
