Andersons Bay continues dominant results

- RYAN EGGERS

IT is a new year, but nothing has changed for Andersons Bay as it continues on its winning run.

The club beat Balmacewen 81 while in the other tie, St Clair unfortunately had to default to Otago Boys’.

Ayesha Horley (Andersons Bay) maintained her unbeaten record on the singles court this season by overcoming Ilana Goosens (Balmacewen) in the top women’s match, winning a tightly contested first set 64 before taking the second set a little more easily, 62.

(Andersons

Bay), claiming a 64, 75 victory, coming back from large deficits in both sets. Cebulla had defeated Sherriff in another close encounter in November.

Andersons Bay swept all four matches in the men’s singles. In the No 2 match George Alexander (Andersons Bay) was forced to dig deep against Nic Cutfield (Balmacewen) as he came back from 16, 35 to eventually win the second set 75, and then close out the third set 62.

In the top men’s singles, Ryan Eggers (Andersons Bay) beat Andrew Mitchell 63, 64, although there was some impressive serving from Mitchell to keep the match quite close.

Junji Inojuchi (Andersons Bay) had a comfortable win over Jes sie Stevenson (Balmacewen), while Mike Smith (Andersons Bay) also won in straight sets over Fraser Richardson (Balmacewen), but was challenged throughout the second set, eventually winning 61, 75.

Andersons Bay claimed all three doubles encounters in straight sets to wrap up the 81 overall victory.

Three more rounds remain in the competition, in which Andersons Bay is well out in front.
