Organisers pleased by exhibition’s popularity

-

The talents of Wanaka’s painters and printmakers proved to be mightily popular during a threeday exhibition which finished yesterday.

The works included watercolours, acrylics, oils and prints.

It was the first exhibition in several years for the town’s painters and printmakers, and artists Iris Abaecherli (left) and Pete Chamberlayne said it had been a ‘‘great success’’.

‘‘We’ve been so pleased with it we think we’ll have it more often, as at least an annual event.’’

As of 2pm yesterday, close to 30 works had been sold.

While they partook in weekly painting sessions, it was the first time Ms Abaecherli and Mr Chamberlayne had displayed their work and the fact the exhibition had been popular was ‘‘encouraging’’.

‘‘It’s been very good for an artists’ selfconfidence,’’ Ms Abaecherli said.
