Alleged theft of firearms

Waitaki: Police are investigating the alleged theft of several firearms from a rural property near Palmerston. Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said the alleged burglary was reported to police about 3.30pm on Sunday, after a secured shed on the property bordering State Highway 1 was broken into and firearms were taken.

Police conducted a scene examination yesterday. Inquiries are continuing.
