Tyler brothers dominate Riverton meeting
BROTHERS Kelvin and Steve Tyler dominated yesterday’s Riverton meeting by training the winners of half the 10race card.
Kelvin Tyler, who trains in partnership with daughter Aimee, sealed a brilliant Easter Carnival when notching three winners.
That took the stable to six wins for the twoday meeting on its home track.
Versatile veteran Timy Tyler headed the stable’s winning treble by winning his 100th start in yesterday’s feature race, the Riverton Highway Stakes.
The hardy 8yrold fought doggedly to hold out stablemate Tilly Dunnage in a competitive finish to the 2147m event.
That result was one of three Tyler quinellas at yesterday’s meeting.
Kelvin and Aimee Tyler produced the runnerup in each of Steve Tyler’s two training victories yesterday.
The Wingatuibased Tyler produced Abbey Kay to win in rating 65 company over 1400m.

Tyler stable trained runnerup Karm ’N’ Easy.
Just Push Play continued his consistent form since joining Steve Tyler’s stable when winning the next event, also over 1400m.
The 5yrold cleared out to win by 21⁄2 lengths over the Kelvin and Aimee Tylertrained The Bumper.
Just Push Play has not finished further back than sixth in nine starts for Steve Tyler.
Kelvin and Aimee Tyler completed their second consecutive training treble on their home track with wins from Valetina Vittoria and Eager Beaver.
Valetina Vittoria was the only horse to win on both days of the twoday Riverton carnival.
The 4yrold bolted in by 31⁄2 lengths over 1400m yesterday for rider Lisa Allpress, who also won with Just Push Play and Eager Beaver.
Eager Beaver justified his $2.10 winning odds when scoring a maiden win over 2147m by a massive six lengths.
Two of the South Island’s leading jumpers progressed towards their first jumps starts of the season at yesterday’s meeting.
Gore steeplechaser Tai Ho went a good race for fifth behind winner Slammer in yesterday’s highweight contest over 2147m.
The country’s best hurdler, Jackfrost, would have derived good benefit from his 1400m hitout behind Just Push Play.
Banbury Lad won the first race of the new jumps racing season at Riverton yesterday.
