Cockburn quits board

TE Anau Community Board chairwoman Rachel Cockburn has resigned from the board over ‘‘personal matters’’.

Ms Cockburn was elected in 2016, but she has been on leave from the board since last October.

She said she tendered her resignation in March.

At the next meeting, on May 1, deputy chairwoman Sarah Greaney would be officially appointed as the board’s chairwoman until local body elections in October.

Ms Greaney said that was just a formality, as she was already doing the work.

Mrs Greaney has been on board for six years and was elected deputy chairwoman in 2016.

She said she would like to continue to enable and support Te Anau’s development plan regarding the town’s growing tourism industry.

‘‘I want to make sure that we continue to work on our strategic plan, which was made after public consultation with our community.

‘‘It is a way to look for the next years.’’
