Lead levels soar

Paris: Notre Dame Cathedral’s melted roof has left very high lead levels in the plaza outside and around adjacent roads.

Paris police said lead levels from the roof were 10g to 20g per kilogram of ground — 32 to 65 times the recommende­d limit by French health authoritie­s of 0.3g per kilogram. The areas nearest the cathedral are closed. —AP
