Referred to youth aid

Queenstown: A Queenstown teenager who took some friends for a joyride in his father’s car early Thursday morning has been referred to youth aid.

Sergeant Steve Watt, of Queenstown, said the 15yearold unlicensed driver took his father’s ute for a drive at 1.20am.

Three other 15yearold boys were also in the vehicle when it was stopped by police.

There was no driving fault, Sgt Watt said.

‘‘They were . . . returned home.

‘‘Their parents were unaware that they had taken the vehicle or were out driving around.’’
