AN overspend in engineering fees for the Roxburgh Entertainment Centre upgrade has been approved by the Teviot Community Board.

An amount of $13,000 for a structural engineering and design report to upgrade the stage was approved at last week’s board meeting, board chair Raymond Gunn said.

A report by Central Otago District Council planning and environment executive manager Louise van der Voort said the engineering report was four months overdue and was received last month.

An amount of $11,000 from the Roxburgh Entertainment Centre Investment Account and $2000 from Roxburgh Property General Engineer’s Budget would fund the costs.

As well as the facility’s stage, the centre — situated in Scotland St, Roxburgh — includes a 258seat auditorium, a movie screen and projection room.

The Roxburgh Entertainment Centre Promotions Group was happy with the proposed work, Mr Gunn said.
