A DUNEDIN teenager apprehended for drinkdriving twice in less than two hours was sentenced yesterday on both matters and a related driving charge.
Taylor William Meikle (19), employed, was before the Dunedin District Court convicted of driving with breathalcohol levels of 668mcg and 523mcg, and driving while his driver’s licence was suspended, on December 21.
He had pleaded guilty.
The fact summary said Meikle was driving his Toyota van in Townleys Rd about 6.20pm.
Stopped at an alcohol checkpoint and found to have a breathalcohol level of 668mcg, he was issued with a 28day driving licence suspension.
About 8pm, police conducting another alcohol checkpoint saw him driving the same van in Westland St. A resulting test showed his breathalcohol level to be 523mcg.
Spoken to, Meikle said he was trying to get home.
Judge Michael Turner imposed an overall sentence of 80 hours’ community work, 12 months’ supervision and eight months’ driving disqualification.
