Queenstown Lakes District council is set to pick up another New Zealandfirst accolade when two electric bicycles (ebikes) begin collecting rubbish and recycling from public litter bins in the Queenstown and Wanaka town centres in coming weeks. Mayor Jim Boult said it was just one of several environmentally friendly solutions to help deliver a smarter waste service for the district. As part of the new initiative, the ebike riders will also be providing community education on how to appropriately dispose of waste in the public litter bins, he said.
