FAMILY, work and financial pressures have been put forward as explanations for a Dunedin man’s second drinkdriving offence.

Alexander Grimsey (31) recorded a breathalcohol level of 1119mcg — more than four times the legal limit — when he was stopped at a checkpoint in Wanaka on December 14.

Driving a work vehicle, with two passengers on board, Grimsey was pulled over in Helwick St.

He had four children aged under 8, was his family’s sole income earner and was commuting to Wanaka each week for work

Grimsey was convicted and fined $800, with court costs of $130, and disqualified for 28 days with alcoholinterlock and zeroalcohol licence provisions.
