8 dead in minibus crash

Cairo: Eight people were killed when a minibus they were travelling in plunged into a roadside canal near Cairo.

Seven others were injured in the accident in the city of Giza.

Initial investigat­ions found that the driver lost control of the wheel of the minibus before it turned over into alMariotia Canal in Giza.

Survivors blamed the accident on high speed.

Fatal road crashes are relatively common in Egypt. They are often blamed on reckless driving and poor road conditions. — AAP
