Double for van Gisbergen

Motorsport: Shane van Gisbergen’s 2020 drought ended with a flood yesterday, the Holden driver winning both of yesterday’s races at the Townsville SuperSprint.

In the second race, fellow New Zealander Scott McLaughlin appeared to be heading towards his 11th win of the season but the championship leader faded as van Gisbergen grabbed the lead with just four laps remaining.

The safety car being called on lap 25 worked in van Gisbergen’s favour. — AAP
