It has been a busy term for MAC pupils with winter tournament week, snow sports events and crosscount­ry. MAC had a successful winter tournament week, with the boys football team conceding only three goals all tournament while scoring 18 and ending the tournament in fifth place.

The girls football team showed a lot of determinat­ion and grit for sixth place.

After some injuries forced new players to be brought into the team the netball girls worked hard to gain 12th and the under15 rugby team worked hard throughout and got a rewarding win on day three.

There were also five pupils competing at the OtagoSouth­land Secondary School Ski and Snowboard Champs at Coronet Peak.

Sakiko Saka, Brooke Hutchison, Morgan Antone and Annabel Hutchison were the top four fastest individual female skiers in the dual slalom event and the team won gold. Toby Brooks was second fastest individual male skier in the dual slalom.

A total of 80 pupils competed in the MAC Ski and Snowboard Champs held at Cardrona with great results. Maddy Thomson and Cam Melville Ives were overall snowboard champions, while Annabel Hutchison and Olly Thomas were skiing champions.

MAC had four pupils compete at the Otago Secondary Schools CrossCount­ry Champs with great results.

Hunter Tuck placed first in the under14 boys, Leo Staufenber­g placed first in the under19 boys and Hannah Prosser placed first in the under16 girls, with Olivia McLachlan placing sixth
