SENTENCES imposed by Judge Dominic Dravitzki in the Dunedin District Court yesterday were. —

Ellen Sarah McCraw (23), cafe worker, of Lawrence, drinkdrivi­ng, 520mcg (drove out of rear entrance of Coach and Horses Inn car park, turned on to Colonsay St, police car in street, McCraw stopped and spoken to, admitted she had drunk nine cider stubbies, said running a friend home), Lawrence, about 11.35pm, August 29, fined $550, court costs $130, disqualifi­ed six months. Counsel Noel Rayner said intended distance of travel about 500m; McCraw not previously before the court.

Neil Gordon Watt (51), unlawfully getting into vehicle (opened front passenger door of vehicle parked in City Rd, leaned inside, noticed police passing by in patrol car, got out, closed door, ducked down, ran off when police made Uturn and headed back towards vehicle), about 12.50am, August 16, 50 hours’ community work. Counsel Steve Turner said Watt intoxicate­d, walking home, did not physically get into vehicle, panicked when police drove past. Judge noted Watt not before the court since 2016.

Taryn Jane Veitch (34), beneficiar­y, of Balclutha, unlawfully in enclosed yard (drove to Clutha District Council dog pound, climbed 2m fence, opened unlocked roller door of dog kennel building just enough to roll herself under door and into building, looked into each kennel for her dog, it was not there, took key from a hook beside rear door, left through the roller door; in explanatio­n said looking for her dog, sick of the council taking her dog, already had to pay $3000 in council fees this year), about 11pm, July 21, fined $500, reparation $250 (to replace key and locks).
