Defender range offers something for everyone

-

WITH four different engine choices, five different core specification levels, and four main and six subsidiary option packs to choose from, the Defender 110 range offers plenty of choice. And that’s even before progressing to the individual options lists.

The engine choices comprise a 2.0 litre fourcylinder turbodiesel in 147kW (D200) and 177kW (D240) guises, a 221kW (P300) 2.0 litre turbopetrol, and a rangetopping 294kW (P400) mild electric hybrid that combines a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine with an electric supercharger. In all cases, power delivery is to all four wheels via an eightspeed automatic gearbox.

Prices (before any accessory packs are added) start at $89,990 for the base Defender 110 with the 147kW 2.0 litre engine, and run through to $164,900 for the flagship P400 Defender X.

The D200 is only offered on the basic model, the nextstep Defender S uses the D240 powerplant, which is also available — along with both the P300 and P400 — on the SE. The flagship Defender X is only available with the P400 motor. For now, at least, there’s also a special model — the Defender First Edition — available in either in D240 or

P400 guise.

The main accessory packs include the lighttouch Urban Pack and Country Pack for $1660 and $4700 respectively. A $7100 Adventure Pack takes things further with the likes of an integrated air compressor and panierstyle external gear carrier.

The hardcore Explorer Pack adds an expeditionstandard roof rack, extra wheelarch protection, and a raised airintake for heavyduty wading.

Further exterior options cover bodywork and roof colours, wheel and tyres choices (including 12 different wheel designs), lighting options and plenty else besides. There are no fewer than nine different interior colour combinations and five different trim finishes. Centre console options include a front middle jump seat, refrigeration compartment, and even a consolefree walk through option.

The Defender 110 is rated to tow 3500kg, and an array of items are offered to support towing.

A tow pack (one of seven special combination packs on offer) provides an upgraded terrain response system, advanced tow assist and automatic headlight levelling.
