We must look at reform to close the wealth gap

-

THANK you, Simon Noble (Opinion, 5.10.20) for your excellent response to Gerard Eckhoff’s opinion piece (ODT, 25.9.20).

After Covid19, we must not go back to what was previously normal: an unfair and unjust society with a growing gap between the rich and the poor.

Surely, the time of our society being run by the wealthy and big business is over and it is time for people of goodwill to demand a more caring society especially as the time of Covid19 has been a boom time for billionaires (ODT, 8.10.20).

Is there no way that their profits can be shared with those struggling to survive after losing job and housing security?

Many of us are waiting for a party brave enough to promote and carry through with the necessary tax reforms to usher in a new era of a fair society.
