‘‘YOU’VE got to be joking me.’’

That was Green Island

Rugby Football Club manager Gareth Weatherston’s response when he saw the club’s defibrillator, which was stolen two weeks ago, had been returned yesterday.

‘‘I was shocked. I didn’t think it would happen so quickly.

‘‘It’s had a twoweek holiday and returned to us.’’

He saw it sitting on top of its storage box when he visited the club yesterday afternoon..

He estimated it had been returned between 8am and 2.30pm.

‘‘Somebody will be feeling a lot less guilty now I’d say.’’

He took the defibrillator to be checked by First Aid Solutions, which determined it had not been used.

Mr Weatherston said the club had been overwhelmed with offers of support throughout yesterday.

‘‘I think it really shows the power of community and community spirit.’’

St John, First Aid Solutions and Night 'n Day had offered to replace the defibrillator.

While there were no security cameras on site, the club was planning to take up an offer of free CCTV installation.

‘‘We’ve been absolutely humbled by all the support.’’
