Council finds footpath cash
Invercargill: Funding for a $41,800 concrete footpath on Stewart Island has been approved.
The Southland District Council approved the unbudgeted expenditure, made up of $31,000 from the Stewart Island visitor levy and up to $10,800 from Stewart Island general reserves for contingency, at its meeting earlier this week.
Set to be installed in Main Rd from outside the Department of Conservation office and up to Dundee St, it would complete the already installed footpath from the new Rakiura Museum.
The contract was awarded to Duncan Earthworks.
