Pie king on a roll
Wellington: The country’s pie king can now add sausage roll champion to his CV.
Patrick Lam, of Bethlehem, Tauranga — seventime winner of the Bakels Supreme Pie Awards — has won the inaugural Bakels Legendary Sausage Roll competition.
He won $1500 and a trophy after beating 605 other entries from around the country, judged anonymously by independent industry judges.
Silver went to Marijke Isley, of The School Shop in Takaka, and bronze to Michael Meaclem, of Michael’s Bakery in Hillmorton, Christchurch. — RNZ
