Two officers assaulted

Rotorua: Two police staff are recovering in hospital after being assaulted at the Rotorua Police Station on Thursday.

The pair were injured just before noon after a male in custody became aggressive while being escorted to the toilet.

A spokesperson said one of the police staff was knocked unconscious.

In an attempt to restrain the man, the police used pepper spray which was ineffective so they used a Taser.

Charges are being considered. — RNZ
