Spell for Probabeel
Racing: New Zealand mare Probabeel will return to New Zealand for a spell after a gritty effort in Saturday’s Cox Plate.
The Savabeel 4yrold’s bid was ultimately undone by the fickle Melbourne weather that resulted in the Moonee
Valley track being soft on the day after heavy overnight rain. Ridden close to the pace from an inside draw, Probabeel struggled to make ground in the final 400m on the testing surface, eventually finishing a meritorious seventh behind winner Sir Dragonet.
“She’s pretty tired and knows she has had a hard run,” trainer Jamie Richards said. — NZ Racing Desk
