Outram Garden Club meets at the Outram Community Hall, 7.30pm. Speaker: volunteer firefighte­rs from the Outram Fire Brigade. Competitio­n: trillium, iris, any vegetable.

Otago Alpine Garden Group meets at Mornington Presbyteri­an Community Centre, 16 Maryhill Tce, at 7.30pm. Speaker is Prof Janice Lord, of the University of Otago botany department, on ‘‘Irregular Flowering in NZ Alpine Plants’’. Plant sales. All welcome.

West Taieri Pony Club Twilight Garden Tour, 6pm9pm, $25 per person. A mystery tour of local gardens and places of interest in the West Taieri area. Entertainm­ent, shopping and fun along the way. Patearoa Garden Tour, 10am5pm, variety of establishe­d, rejuvenate­d and new gardens around Patearoa, Central Otago. Tickets $15 from More than Books and Challenge Garage in Ranfurly, and the Informatio­n Centre and Store in Naseby.
