‘People inclusion’ position hailed as business first
DUNEDINBASED tech company Timely is heralding possibly a New Zealand first — the appointment of a ‘‘chief people inclusion officer’’.
Timely produces a cloudbased appointment management for businesses in the beauty industry requiring scheduling of their staff and services.
Chief executive and cofounder Ryan Baker believed the appointment of Mary HaddockStaniland to be the first role of that nature at the executive level of any New Zealand organisation.
Ms HaddockStaniland had a mandate to progress the business case for workplace inclusion, ensuring people had equal access to opportunities and resources.
‘‘We need to ensure that both Timely and the 15,000 businesses it serves get to benefit from inclusive work practices. It’s not just the right thing to do, it’s how we’re growing,’’ Mr Baker said.
Timely had customers throughout the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. It was also a pioneer of remote working with more than 100 staff across those countries.
Ms HaddockStaniland was leaving her role as head of membership services at Diversity Works New Zealand to take up the role next month.
