Curious discoveries in East Africa
London: Mr John Roscoe, a prominent scientist, has returned from a journey into littleknown portions of East Africa, made at the instance of the Royal Society and the Government. He travelled thousands of miles in the interior afoot and on a bicycle. He discovered many curious things, including 50 varieties of herbs (some of which appear to effect marvellous cures), native poisons, implements, and instruments antedating 2000 BC. He met tribes living entirely on milk. They owned enormous herds of cattle. Others existed wholly on bamboo tips and moles, while another tribe considered it good form to eat their dead relatives. — ODT, 23.11.1920.
